Available from A&A Company, Inc.
A process wherein a High Intensity Arc is thrown across an Electrode and Anode through which is introduced a mixture of gases (Nitrogen & Hydrogen, or Argon & Hydrogen or Helium) causing the gases to ionize, thereby creating ultra high tempertures up to 50,000 °F. Metals, Ceramics or Cermets in powder form are injected into this stream of hot gases and instantly brought up to its molten state. Under high velocity, these molten materials are propelled onto a Substrate causing high integrity coatings with excellent bonding.
Advantages of A&A Company, Inc., Plasma Coatings:
Substrate is not heated above 250 °F; no distortion takes place while being coated.
Substrate can be of any variety of materials such as any type of Metal, Ceramic, some Plastics and we have even sprayed onto Wood with good results.
Coatings are unlimited. Metals, Ceramics, Cermets and Refractory materials can be sprayed. Also with A & A Company, Inc.’s laboratory facilities many combinations of materials can be blended for special effect coatings.
Bonds can be either Mechanical, Semi-Fused or Fused Metallurgically.
Free Standing parts can be made from Plasma Sprayed Coatings by spraying onto a removable Substrate. A & A Company, Inc. has made parts from materials such as Tungsten, Tungsten Carbide, Ceramic and many other combinations.
